I asked this a while ago in the billing reimbursement forum but very few answered.

What date do most bill the interpretation (professional component) for. The date the interp was done or the date the test was done?

Thanks,

Raechel

Per our Medicare Carrier, Trailblazer, the date the physician reads the test is the date you bill for the professional component.

i.e. the patient has an echo performed on 6/1/11, the technical component is billed that day.

our physician reads on 6/2/11 we bill for the reading that day, 93306-26 6/2/11

I called Trailblazer and that is what I was told to do. Bill the day the reading was done.

Hope that helps!
