Hello All,
What diagnosis should an office use for a patient who had a breast cancer diagnosis but is not active at present so it is a PMH of Breast Cancer. The patient is returning for her 1 year follow up and the provider wants the patient to have a mammogram prior to the visit.
Do they pull from the past med history and use the breast cancer diagnosis?

the diag for a mamogram would be V76.12 or for high risk v76.11, that is only if it is a screening. If there is a suspicious lump or something of that nature you would code according to that. I hope this helped
