Hi,

Just was curious that if someone is a certified coder, then what is the first salary that they can expect as a beginner?
Also how does the road map look like? As in after becoming a certified coder, how to go up the ladder or what are the different designations one can apply for?
What is the highest designation and highest salary one can expect if they want to pursue this career?

Thank you,
Pam

My first coding job was $17 an hour, but that was 30 years ago. Coders who do inpatient facility coding seem to make the most money, as well as consultants. The coders where I'm at as their second step, get certified in auditing or Medicare risk adjustment. As a bonus my employer pays for it all.
