I already have my ICD-10 certification, but know several other coders that have not been able to get theirs.

My question is, What happens to current certified coders if they do NOT complete the proficiency test by the deadline of 12/31/2015?

I did not see anything on the website explaining what will happen to those coders and what their options will be at that point.

I am hoping AAPC will respond.

Thanks!

The AAPC stated early on that failure to obtain ICD-10 proficiency will lose the certification and will need to sit for certification as if they have no certification at all.
