Is this false labor (dx 047.00-047.03 per trimester date) or preterm labor (dx 060)? Check the ICd10 manual and your documentation notes for more info in selecting correct dx code.Also dx 063 is long labor without birth or obstructed labor dx 065. Add last dx code Z3A per time weeks of gestation in pregnancy.

I struggle with this as well. Our facility does not have a Labor & Delivery Unit; our patients are transferred out if they can be. I don't feel that false labor is right, nor is long labor. They are getting transferred because they are in labor and there is time to get them to a birthing center. There are all of these codes, but none for labor without delivery? Frustrating!
The only thing I can come up with that makes sense to me is O26.89_ - other specified pregnancy related conditions. Technically, it is still maternal care.
