Wiki What is AMA's Direct "one-on-one" Care Definition?

Hi all! There have been discussions lately regarding the meaning of direct one-on-one patient care pertaining to physical rehabilitation(PT/OT) procedure codes. In past years it appears this "direct one-on-one" patient care meant the level of contact could be visual, verbal and/or manual as required for the particular service. Now, it appears AMA altered the definition to state "face to face" care. What does this mean?

Has AMA's definition changed to require 100% manual contact with the patient? Or is this just another way to express direct one-on-one and the level of contact is still to be visual, verbal and/or manual?

Thanks for advance for any guidance!
