Quick question, Can a Dr's office charge (ex:$1.00/page) the patient for results to their own lab work, x-ray reports, etc?

Thanks for the input!

Yes

I work at a hospital, and we charge 75 cent a page for the first 25 pages, and then 65 cent a page for the next 50. I think the next 100 are 50 cent a page.

A question for you

The way the original question is worded makes me pause.

It's one thing to charge patients for copies of their records.

It's another thing to charge them to get the results of their tests when you've just charged them for the test.

Might be a reason for patients to leave your practice ....

I agree with, Tessa.

We charge $0.25 per page for copies of records, but courtesy copies of diagnostic tests are given by our providers as a courtesy to our patients.

So if you have lab work done at a Lab, and request the results from your primary (who was the ordering), they should or should not be able to charge?
