87635: Covid-19, amplified probe technique
Infectious agent detection by nucleic acid (DNA or RNA); severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (Coronavirus disease [COVID-19]), amplified probe technique and

U0004: 2019-nCoV Coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2/2019-nCoV (COVID-19), any technique, multiple types or subtypes (includes all targets), non-CDC, making use of high throughput technologies as described by CMS-2020-01-R.

in short 87635- Test will be done through Amplified Probe Techinic, U0004- Test will be done through making use of high throughput technologies

Thank you Mattshree! But!! What is the difference between an amplified probe and using high throughput technologies? According to Abott, the 87635 is for their id now molecular sars cov2 rna device. But what is different between their device and a high throughput machine? Why would a patient need both tests? Doesn't one device give the same information as the other? AND!! How does the Covid / Flu test; 87428 fit in with the amplified probe - so confused...
