What does the doctor actually mean when in his dictation he states "I used a Spartacore wire to wire the lesion " or "I was able to wire the posterior tibial artery using the ViperWire." I'm confused about what is really being done.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Susan:confused:

I think what they mean is that the doctor was able to pass a wire across a stenosis. The next thing that they have to do is get a catheter across the stenosis for the situation to be billable (unless the wire is a doppler wire to evaluate the vessel. It is the catheter position that makes the bill, not the wire.
