Our physician is doing outpatient wound care through our minor procedure surgery department. She states she is doing 97602 and 97597 as the same time. Documentation does not state she is using a scalpel or blade to debride the wound. CCI Edits do not allow for billing on same date of service. I know 97602 cannot be used for a professional charge. If 97602 is all she is doing, would we use debridement codes in place for professional and facility charges (11000-1104x) or do we only bill the facility side of 97602 and nothing on the professional side? This is new to us and looking for guidance please. Any help is greatly appreciated.
