Hi all,

I've just started billing/coding for a new wound care center. Payments have just started coming in and I'm noticing that the reimbursement tends to be on the low side. Is that generally the way it is? I've checked all the factors like the doctor is credentialed and participating, correct modifiers used, etc. but I guess I expected payment to be higher. Anyone have experience or knowledge with this?

Thanks!
Kellie

Do you have fee schedules for the insurance carriers in question? Seems the best thing to do is check your payments by CPT, and per the fee schedule(s).

Wound care billing

We have just revisted our re-imbursements for Wound Care. We are in Dayton Ohio and the re-imbursements from our carriers are alot lower than we expected. We also do wound vac's and debridements, we do this in the office setting and I agree, for the time and care involved in all this, the re-imbursements are low.
