sorry for what i'm sure is a dumb newbie question.

in the Z34 section there is normal first pregnancy and other normal pregnancy. does 'first' in this case mean first pregnancy ever? or first pregnancy as in for the first fetus in case of a multiple birth type situation?

i've been coding ob ultrasounds using the first pregnancy code but some of the patient's have had children previously.

Z34.0X is for Encounter for supervision of normal first pregnancy, which means the first pregnancy for this patient. It does not reference the number of fetuses.
