Zometa inj for Hospice Patient

Messages

Hi,

We have a patient on Hospice status that came to our hospital based infusion center for a Zometa injection. How do we bill for this? What codes to use so we get paid for the service. Help:confused:

In SD when a pt is on Hospice the Hospice provider is billed for any service. Almost like if the patient was on a skilled nursing facility stay how certain codes are billed to the Nursing Home.

It depends on the insurance company. Some insurances will not pay for active treatments once a patient is hospice.

For something like zometa its probably not on an excluded list but you may be able to bill with a modifier. Most likely you'll be at the mercy of the hospice facility to agree to pay for it and they will probably try to negotiate pricing.
