Everything You Need to Know About E/M
Evaluation and Management (E/M) guidelines for new and established office and outpatient services have gone through substantial revisions. Understanding the new guidelines for coding and documentation is vital and AAPC is committed to help you prepare. In additional to the training, workshops and resources below, here are a few key facts:
- The changes are effective January 1, 2021.
- The guideline revisions only affect the new and established office and outpatient codes.
- History and examination will no longer be a requirement for coding.
- E/M codes will be determined based on time or medical decision making.
- Code 99201 will be eliminated.
