Reader Question:

Fluoroscopy

Question: How do I code for fluoroscopy our anesthesiologist performed for a paralyzed diaphragm?

New Jersey Subscriber

Answer: Code the procedure with 76000 (fluoroscopy [separate procedure], up to one hour physician time, other than 71023 or 71034 [e.g., cardiac fluoroscopy]) because you dont have specific information. If the physician does not own the equipment used during the procedure, append modifier -26 (professional component) to 76000.
