Question: How does anesthesia bill for unusual position of a patient on procedures with a base value less than five?

Answer: The only anesthesia code for unusual position is 00218 (anesthesia for intracranial procedures; procedures in sitting position). Also try modifier -22 (unusual procedural services), but make sure you have thorough documentation of the case to help justify its use.
