Don't Cancel Or Adjust These Claims, RHHI Warns

Hold up, you don't want to go canceling or adjusting your claims that are in status/location P B9996. So says regional home health intermediary Cahaba GBA in a message to providers. "Status/location P B9996 indicates that the claim is waiting on the payment floor and has NOT completed processing," Cahaba emphasizes. "Before you can adjust or cancel a claim, the claim MUST appear in the finalized status/location P B9997." What happens: "If you adjust or cancel a claim before it moves to P B9997, payment will appear as being recouped in the 'adjustment to balance' portion of the Remittance Advice/Electronic Remittance Advice (RA/ERA), before the original claim reimbursement displays in the 'detail portion' of the RA/ERA," Cahaba cautions. Bottom line: "If your claim appears in status/location P B9996, YOU MUST WAIT until it has moved to P B9997 before you can submit your adjustment/cancel in order to avoid creating billing [...]
