Industry Notes:

Use New HHABN Form Or Fail To Meet F2F Requirement

Don't forget to use the new home health advance beneficiary notice starting April 1. "Mandatory use of the revised HHABN begins on April 1, 2011," CMS says on its HHABN website. "All HHABNs with the expiration date of 08/31/09 that are issued on and after April 1, 2011 will be considered invalid." Issuing the correct HHABN form may become more critical, considering their required use for discharges related to face-to-face encounters (see related story, p. 90). New English and Spanish-language forms are at www.cms.gov/BNI/03_HHABN.asp.
