Radiofrequency ablation uses heat produced by focused radio waves, a type of electromagnetic wave, to destroy areas of abnormal, damaged, or diseased tissue. In this procedure, the provider inserts a radiofrequency probe through the cervix to destroy one or more uterine fibroids under ultrasound guidance, which uses high–frequency ultrasound to capture live images displayed on a video monitor.
