Summary

In this procedure, the provider performs a pelvic osteotomy, by incising a portion of the pelvic bones or repairing the pelvic side of the socket. There are different types of pelvic osteotomy such as dega osteotomy or salter osteotomy. When the child suffers an alignment problem of the pelvis from birth, the provider corrects the deformity in both pelvises by any of the pelvic osteotomy methods. He does this to stabilize the hip and return it to a more normal shape and function. The provider performs this procedure usually in young children.
