Summary

In this procedure, the provider performs treatment of a metatarsophalangeal joint dislocation, which is abnormal separation of a joint, using screws and pins through the skin. He also performs manipulation, or adjustment, of the separated bones to reduce the dislocation. Metatarsals are the five long bones in the foot that connect the ankle area to the toes. Phalanges are bones of the toe. There are three in each toe except the greater toe, which has two phalanges. The metatarsophalangeal joint is a joint where the metatarsal bone of the foot attaches to the phalanx bone of the toes.
