In this procedure, the provider injects contrast for cholangiography, a radiological procedure to image the inside of the bile ducts, using ultrasound (an imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves) and/or fluoroscopy (live X–ray) images displayed on a video screen to guide the injection, after creating a new access route. The procedure includes all radiological supervision and interpretation.
