In this procedure, the provider removes the uterus and cervix including the parametrium via an abdominal incision, known as a radical abdominal hysterectomy. The provider may also remove all or part of the vagina, all the pelvic lymph nodes on the right and left side, and biopsy a few of the para aortic lymph nodes. The provider may remove part or all of the fallopian tubes and ovaries.
