The provider destroys the celiac plexus by injecting it with a neurodestructive agent. The celiac plexus is a cluster of ganglia and radiating nerves in the abdomen. The procedure reduces the patient’s sensation of abdominal pain. This service is done for severe chronic abdominal pain that abdominal cancer, chronic pancreatic or other conditions cause. The provider may use imaging guidance for this procedure.
