The provider gets imaging from inside the colon, such as by having the patient swallow a capsule fitted with a camera. As the capsule passes through the gastrointestinal tract, it captures images of the colon. The provider then interprets the images and reports the findings. The provider performs the procedure to detect and or diagnose abnormalities in the gastrointestinal tract.
