We have been told by management that after the resident/fellow completes a note in EHR, the attending can do an addendum which includes basically signing off on the note, and the note is considered the attending doctor's note. The TP statement is not being enforced because they feel it is the doctor's note, even though completed by resident/fellow. Is anyone else dealing with a similar situation?

Thank you,
Diana

Diana, am I understanding you correctly in that the TP statement is being documented by the resident/fellow?

Our Attendings do an addendum to the resident's note, but the addendum includes the TP statement by the Attending. Once the Attending signs the addendum, her or she becomes the author of the resident/fellows note. That's ok as long as the TP statement by the Attending is present.

Does that help?
