Hi All....

I am aware that the H&P is considered part of the surgical package; however, if we are also doing "extensive" patient education during that H&P, is that billable?

We implant Intrathecal Pumps and Spinal Cord Stimulators...so the education is necessary, and it goes beyond just the H&P.

Thanks in advance....:)

I just wanted to add that I know the surgical pkg includes the E&M if done one day prior to, or on the day of the procedure...but if we were to do counsel the patient in length, say two-three days prior to the procedure, including the H&P...I am thinking this is billable...
