Is there a way to bill an outpatient family consult on a Medicare patient? Without the patient being present. Family is concerned patient is suffering with dementia and wants to meet with the doctor to discuss. Provider is eager to know if he can be reimbursed for this service.

The code you would use is 96155 and as of 10/1/2011 it is no longer covered by Medicare.
