Does the CPC have to be taken before the CPC-H even if the coder prefers to work in a hospital/outpatient facility?

No it does not. I Have the CPC-H and I have never taken the CPC. I worked hospital outpatient at the time and it just made good sense.

No one test has to be taken before another one. You can even just take your speciality if you wish. Hope this information is helpful.
