Wiki office visit with first orthovisc injection

Can I ask how others are doing this?? Do you code an ov with the first injection being done??? I was told by someone you can bill the ov with first injection. Thanks

It depends on the reason for the visit. If they came in knowing they were getting the injection, the E&M service is included in the injection . If its say a new problem and patient is worked up and its decided the patient would benefit from orthovisc and its done the same day you may be able to bill the E&M separately.

usually the visit prior they talk about it and order it and then the patient comes in for the series of the orthovisc injections. So the E/M would not be billed in this case. Thanks for your help
