How would I code for a physician who goes on call to a hospital for critical care patients (Neurologist) in which the provider will document a "Consult" and also "Subsequent Visits". I've never had to code for an on call subsequent visit and am unsure if I were to just -26 or?

I don't know if this would apply, but have you looked at 99026 or 99207 for the on call hours? I know Medicare won't pay for it and there's a lot of payers with policies specific to these services. Is the provider on call, sees patients as requested, then returns to on call status? I'm confused about how on call is related to consult or subsequent visits.

When you mention on-call do you mean on call where no services are actually performed, or are you referring to a provider that happened to be on-call and performed services on two calendar days?
