question on room and board charges/discharge

I am new to IP facility coding and needing to check on if there is a time cut off for charging for room and board for the day the patient is discharged.

In my experience you cannot charge R&B on the date of discharge because that will cause the number of days billed to be unequal to the length of stay, which will cause the claim to fail payer edits. Perhaps someone knows a way around this but I don't believe it's possible to bill for a room charge on the last date of an inpatient stay.
