I have run out of options with a primary care doctor at our facility. He has over 500 notes left unsigned going back all the way to August 2018. I have sent multiple messages to him to try and get them done, I've sent bulk messages telling him which ones need done, I've sent individual messages, anything to make it easier on him but my messages go unanswered. My office manager is aware and tries to get him to do them but he doesn't listen to her either. The CEO of the company is even aware but he doesn't do anything about it. I have run out of options and I don't know what else to do. I hate having all of these sitting here because then I can't do my job correctly. I wasn't sure if there was a way to report it somewhere or what can be done because whatever I'm doing is not working.

If the claims have been billed, then you could potentially report this as a compliance issue, but if the practice is just sitting on those claims and waiting for the physician to sign them, then there's nothing to report. It's a poor business practice and it's their revenue that's at stake, but they're likely not breaking any laws. In fact, the insurance companies will be happy to deny all those claims for timely filing and save them all some money. I don't know what more you can do other than to continue to be persistent with them.

I understand what you're going through as I have a similar way of taking my work seriously and it can get under my skin when things aren't done correctly, but my friends are always reminding me, 'it's not your company, don't stress over it' and they're right. You do the best you can and at some point have to let go or else you'll drive yourself crazy. Hope this maybe helps some.

No they're just sitting there waiting because I won't bill them until they're signed. I didn't figure there was really anything to be done but I thought I'd try and check.
Thanks!

Make sure the situation is well reported and documented to your superiors and the compliance officer of your company. If nothing comes out of that, then it's not your skin in the game, as Thomas is saying. You can only do so much, since we cannot force the providers to do something they don't want to do. 500 unsigned notes are a lot of unpaid claims, and any company should feel the loss of that revenue and take it seriously though.

I'm going to make sure the compliance officer is aware and see from there. Thanks!
