I'm trying follow the rule and very confuse with Locum's payroll.
My understanding was that Locum has to be pay as 1099 (outside contractor), but same time, we are going to hire this provider as a permanently.
Can we pay this locum as salary? or has to be 1099?
Since we have to use Q6 modifier, I think we should pay this locum as 1099.
HR is having hard time to figure this out how to pay him.
Does anybody know how to handle this payroll situation?
Please help.

LT should not be salary, they are contractors. If you later hire them and they are no longer LT, you can pay them salary, hourly, per diem, whatever.

As long as they are LT, they should be 1099.
