I left my coding career in June 2017 due to a difficult pregnancy and now I am prepared to go back to work. I have more than 5 years MRA HCC coding experience. My ceu's are up to date and I am working on my resume. I would like to go back to my previous career position.
Can anyone offer any advice on how to successfully be rehired after a 3-4 year gap in my resume? I have applied previously over the last couple years but I haven't been rehired. Is it acceptable to ask them why I wasn't hired previously?

Thank you,
Sandra Qian, CPC

Hi- you could just keep applying. I know people that had to apply for hospital jobs 15 times before they finally got a call back and job eventually. If you know an employee put their name as a referral. One company you can try is Change Healthcare- they hire PT and FT remote HCC coders. Also temp agency CSI Companies is going to start hiring HCC coders for United Healthcare now. I've heard it can be stressful since its on Production but it lasts a few months and would be great for your resume. Good luck!
