Hello,
For prolonged services, which codes everyone is using with 99305 and 99310?
 
I have a provider who billed a 99358 on 1/12/21 to review a new patient chart then billed 99344 on 1/13/2021 and it was denied as "does not meet new patient requirements". Has anyone encountered this and how was your solution? Thanks for any input you can provide.

+99356 – Prolonged Services; inpatient or observation setting; first hour +99357 – each additional 30 minutes (list in addition to 99356)

Codes 99356‐99357 o Must always be reported in addition to an appropriate E/M service (ie, 90837, 99218‐99220, 99221‐ 99223, 99224‐99226, 99231‐99233, 99234‐99236, 99251‐99255, 99304‐99310)

Thank you for the info, I will save this for future reference - but I am billing indirect prolonged visit for POS 12.
