My office has been seeing a increase in overpayments for procedures that are covered under both medical and dental. We have always submitted dual covered procedures to medical polices first, then to dental once we receive an EOB from medical. Now dental polices are stating they are primary over medical and will not recoup any benefits. Some medical policies still will not recoup benefits, even after sending copies of the dental denial to recoup benefits, and we are stuck sending a payment back in full to one of the insurance companies.

Does anyone have any recommendations as far as what we should do with this or any literature stating who is primary and secondary?

What type of provider is this for, medical or dental? If its medical, only bill the medical carrier.
