I have a provider was present for a vaginal vaccum assisted delivery although not the delivering provider. Are we able to bill for sepatately delivery of the placenta ? Thanks,
 
If the provider is part of the same group/practice than the one who did the delivery (primary provider), then the placenta delivery cannot be billed separately. It would be included if in same practice.

Bill it out as an assistant for the birth with a modifier -80 on the delivery only code. Be prepared to send in documentation supporting the need for an assistant during a vaginal delivery.
