Can a provider apply a no-show fee to a patient who is a resident of a nursing home?
 
Generally if you have given the patient advance notice of your office policy regarding no-shows, then yes you can charge the fee. For a nursing home resident, though, the likelihood of getting payment may not be worth the trouble it could take to try to collect it.
 
That is what I was thinking. I know Medicare states no-show policy must apply to all, is there a population of patients where a no-show fee/policy would be exempt?

Not that I'm aware of, but you may want to check on the consumer protection laws and business practice regulations in the state where your practice is operating.
