Wiki ICD-10 Early pregnancy loss

Patient 12 wks. 4days pregnant sent to OBT for no heart tones. Diagnosis is Early pregnancy loss, no cardiac activity on the bedside US. Would the DX be O02.1- missed abortion?

Hi, yes it appears to be a missed abortion but I would go back to the provider and let them know that "early pregnancy loss" is not a codeable term. Looking in the Index, under Loss , Pregnancy, only refers to recurrent loss, and I didn't find the term loss under Pregnancy. You shouldn't have to extrapolate
