Hi! We code anesthesiology, have started seeing them do labor Econsults with the ob/gyn, and not sure what diagnoses to use since they aren't actually seeing the patient. What is everyone else using?
 
The coding requirements are the same as for any other service - you will need to assign the codes that represent the patient's conditions that the provider has documented exist and require or affect treatment. The anesthesiologists should have this information since they would need it to plan their service - perhaps they're just not documenting if for you?

Thanks, I was getting hung up on the fact that they aren't actually seeing the patient.
