i work at a providers office and our podiatrist would like to start performing amnion injections and grafts during certain surgeries -- mainly topaz Achilles tendonitis treatments and plantar fasciotomy.

i have found several cpts that might work, but im not confident and im the only coder here.

my thoughts:
15275 - 15277 for the grafts
20550 - 20551 for the injections

or do yall have other suggestions?

There are no amnion injectable grafts that are billable for podiatry, to my knowlege. The 15275-7 code set are not for injectable grafts, they are for sheet/membrane grafts applied to wounds. The injection codes would also not be billable for these products because the product is not covered for injection into the foot/ankle. There is also no code for the Topaz procedure, it would be an unlisted code and usually not covered by most payers.

Do you think it would be reasonable to use 96372 (therapeutic/prophylactic injection subq or IM) for the administration and then just take a loss on the cost of the product (it appears we'd have to use an unspecified product code anyways)

Unfortunately, no, the amnion injectable grafts are not covered. Not sure why they have been approved for the knee joint but not the ankle yet, but that is where we are. Cash pay
