Icd-10 code for blood tinged amniotic fluid on delivery chart.

Icd-10 code for blood tinged amniotic fluid on delivery chart.
Physicians are required to note this on the chart, but several studies have shown that bloody amniotic fluid that is observed when the patient is in labor is not associated with any particular adverse outcome for the baby and rarely is placental abruption seen as the cause. But this finding has resulted in higher rates of labor induction, assisted vaginal deliveries, cesarean deliveries and lower birth weights. Unless the provider has indicated some other issue with the labor progression or the outcome for the mother such as abruption or chorioamnionitis, I would report this finding with O41.90-- as I would consider it an unspecified problem with the amniotic fluid when the the cause has not been identified.
