I would like any information on how you are coding MRA's of the lower extremities. What all needs to be in the documentation to bill for MRA of the abdomen and pelvis in addition to the lower extremities?

74185 MRA Abdomen, with or without contrast
73725 MRA Lower Ext with / without
72198 MRA Pelvis with / without

They need to be documented seperately if you're billing seperately. Full interpretations for each study. So if you're doing MRA of the Abdomen, Pelvis and Lower Ext, I would make sure you book 3 appointments - make sure authorization is good for all 3, (double check with the insurance carrier that they will allow all 3 studies to be done in the same day... some do not allow this), and again document each seperately.
