I have an office that seen a patient for a sprain ankle. They charged a 99213 plus they put on an splint which was an L code. Plus they also charged 29505 for putting on the splint. There was no other DX available for this visit. Are they allowed to charge the E&M plus the administration for the splint?

Yes they can charge for both as long as the documentation supports significant and separately identifable E&M in addition to the application. It is not required to have two dx to do this.

Yes you have to put a 25 mod on the E&M when billed with a procedure code that carries a 0 or 10 day global.
