Wiki 11440 vs. 69110 - Excision of external ear.

Hello,

Trying to gain some insight into the different between CPT codes 11440-11446 (benign excision of lesion of ear) and CPT 69110, excision external ear, partial, simple repair

Anyone have any info to differentiate between the two?

Hi Ashley,

I believe the code 11440-11446 deals with integumentery and hence anything associated with the SKIN of the ear as in your case the benign lesion( on the skin of the external ear). Where as the CPT code 69110 is used for the procedure on the external ear for the removal of part of the external ear for whatever reason. Note: the external ear has different parts, lobule being one of them.
