Anyone using this implant code for hernia repair? Have a doc that wants to but am not sure if it's approriate.
 
If he is trying to use it for mesh implant, he can't. If the hernia is inguinal or umbilical, the mesh is included in the code for inguinal hernia repair. If the hernia is ventral or incisional, use the add on code 49568 for mesh implant.
 
Yes, they apparently only want it used for breast - and maybe some other part of trunk not excluded by the notes below it (back maybe???). The NCCI specifically doesn't cover it at the same site as a hernia repair.
