Hi coders:
Our MD saw a patient who was Inpatient for 4 days.
Our MD saw a patient at bedside twice in one day.
I know in outpatient area, we were able to combine the elements to come up with the level (combine the 2 notes) and count Hx, Exam and MDM from both notes.
Can we also do this for inpatients? (when MD sees patient and dictates a report for 2 separate visits done on same day.)

Your doctor can add the elements of History, Exam and MDM from the two visits, just like in Outpatient to come up with the level of subsequent inpatient visit or initial inpatient visit on a single day.
