We are receiving denials (from California) statingthat the new CPT codes (specifically 49083 and 78226) are not effective until October 2012 (??) Can anyone clarify this?
 
If it is in the Jan 1 2012 edition of the codes then it is effective Jan 1 2012. Unless this is work comp. A transmittal went out back in 02 stating there is no grace period for the acceptance of new codes. Unless you can find a transmission from the AMA stating the codes are inactive until October 1 then they are active codes as of Jan 1.
