Sorry if these are silly questions but here they are. 1. If you take your CPC in December and don't pass would you new test be on the 2014 codes if you retest in February? 2. Are the tests using the 2014 codes starting January 1st? Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this or answers!
 
yes, you must use the book for the current year that you take the test.
Cpt books are published each year around Oct/Nov for the next year and those codes go into effect on Jan 1 of the year the book is printed for.
I have my 2014 cpt book already but I cannot start using it until 1/1/14

ICD-9 books however for 2014 go into effect on 10/1/2013.
